This is a type of “tract” course where students must take all four quarters in order to fully benefit from the instruction. First quarter starts with fundamentals of learning to use DreamWeaver by designing a basic web site using text and graphics. The course includes an introduction to CSS (cascading style sheets) for layout. During second quarter, students will create a CSS layout using DreamWeaver. Learn to create and link to external CSS. Learn how to make a site compatible with major browsers. An introduction to PhotoShop is included with an emphasis on creating and optimizing graphics for the web. In the third quarter, there will be an introduction to creating Flash for the web and multimedia design. The focus will be on creating optimized, web ready animations such as banners, etc. Students will create stand alone animations (including video) that can be integrated into any media without needing a special player. Import and update native PhotoShop files. In the fourth quarter, students will combine files from PhotoShop, DreamWeaver and Flash and will import, and export files from all applications in addition to solving various security problems triggered by browsers.
