| This competency based course prepares students in the skills needed for more advanced instruction in fields such as Furniture Design and Fabrication, Cabinetmaking and Architectural Millwork. Integrated throughout the course are career preparation standards, which include basic academic skills, communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, workplace safety, and technology and employment literacy. Students will learn the basic proper and safe use of woodworking machines, and will utilize imagination and individual thinking skills to design, create, and implement designs in wood. After completing a required project, students will have opportunities for creative expression through the design and building of projects of their choice. Students successfully completing this course may take a second and third year of Woodworking. |
