This is an overview of engineering for students interested in becoming an engineer. The course explores the design process and basics of mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering fields. Hands-on instruction includes a “shake table” to analyze effects of earthquakes on structures, model bridges for load/stress testing, and more. Students will learn sketching, the design process, drafting, engineering math, applied physics, surveying, applied geometry, trigonometry, structural systems, electronic symbols, electronic schematics, and mechanical design. If you’re considering a career in engineering, building, or construction, this course is a must!
