Date: May 5, 2011 MVROP INSTRUCTOR STAN HEARNE NAMED THE 2011 CITEAF TEACHER OF THE YEAR FREMONT, CA- The California Industrial and Technology Education Association Foundation (CITEAF) Awards Committee has named MVROP Construction Technology Instructor, Stan Hearne, as the 2011 CITEAF Teacher of the Year for the State of California. This high honor is given by CITEAF to one high school Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher in California each year. Mr. Hearne has been teaching Construction Technology at MVROP for eighteen years and has proved again and again to be an invaluable staff member. Over the years, Mr. Hearne has been instrumental in providing quality instruction to students and teaching them construction skills while building the current classroom and workshop the program resides in today. In addition, he has been an important part of the Construction Technology Program recently expanding its focus to include Green Technology. Currently, Mr. Hearne is working with students to build a Construction Technology garage where equipment and supplies will be stored for the program. Mr. Hearne was presented with the 2011 CITEAF Teacher of the Year Award at the MVROP Governing Council Meeting which took place Thursday, April 21, 2011. Established in 1969, MVROP has been instrumental in preparing students for successful business, medical, and technical careers. Through a partnership with Fremont, New Haven, and Newark Unified School Districts, career technical education is provided to nearly 5,000 students (high school and adult) each year.
