Date: October 3, 2008 BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE! FREMONT, CA- Well known for its many collaborations and business partnerships within the community, Mission Valley ROP is continuing this fine tradition by joining forces with the Fremont Fire Department. As the beginning stages of construction commence for the Industrial Technology buildings on the Mission Valley ROP campus, a need to demolish the former vandal watch building was brought to attention. The school approached the Fremont Fire Department about doing a demonstration for their Fire Science Program, to which Fremont Fire Department graciously accepted. On Monday, October 6th at 11am, Fremont Fire Department will be on the Mission Valley ROP campus to demonstrate how to enter and extinguish a burning building during a live fire training exercise. This demonstration will have two purposes. This collaboration will serve as a unique hands-on experience for students, which is an integral part of Career Technical Education within all Mission Valley ROP classes. It will also allow Fremont Fire Department to get in some valuable practice. By promoting interaction between students of the MVROP Fire Science Program and Fremont Firefighters, positive motivation is instilled in the students. Combined with the skills that are taught in the classroom, students are able to leave Mission Valley ROP with real life experience that can benefit them for a lifetime.
