Date: May 21, 2009 SEVENTH ANNUAL FORENSICS CHALLENGE
FREMONT, CA –Mission Valley ROP (MVROP) is pleased to announce the Seventh Annual Forensics Challenge “Nailed”. This event is hosted by MVROP to test their students in applying the skills that they have learned throughout the year in the classroom during a real scenario.
The Seventh Annual Forensics Challenge will be solving a murder crime scene on the Mission Valley ROP campus on Tuesday, May 26th from 9am to 2pm. There will be approximately 170 students, or Evidence Collection Technicians, from James Logan High, American High, and the ROP Center managing the scenes, documenting, “bagging n’ tagging” evidence, establishing Chain-of-Custody, and then analyzing evidence in the laboratory to confirm or eliminate possible suspects in this case.
Students will be briefed about the crime scene by the Fremont Police Department in the morning and then deployed to their crime scene. After collecting all evidence, students will analyze their findings and will prepare their accounts of what took place. After a lunch hosted by The Fremont Rotary Club, teams will prepare their presentations for the Legal Panel. Two members of each ECT Team will then present their findings to the Legal Panel.
Field judges for this event will include Special Agents from the ATF, FBI and the FBI ERT (Evidence Recovery Team), Investigators from the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau, a representative from the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and Officers from Oakland, Fremont and Union City Police Departments.
