THE NINTH ANNUAL MVROP FORENSICS CHALLENGE
BEGS THE QUESTION, “WHERE’S WALDO?”
FREMONT, CA –Mission Valley ROP (MVROP) is pleased to announce the Ninth Annual Forensics Challenge “Where’s Waldo?” This event is hosted by MVROP to test their students in applying skills they have learned throughout the year in the classroom during a real scenario. It is the ultimate final exam.
The Ninth Annual Forensics Challenge will be solving a murder crime scene on the Mission Valley ROP campus on Tuesday, May 31st from 8am to 2:30pm. There will be approximately 100 students, or Evidence Collection Technicians, from the three local school districts: New Haven, Newark, and Fremont Unified School Districts managing the scenes, documenting, “bagging n’ tagging” evidence, establishing Chain-of-Custody, and then analyzing evidence in the laboratory to confirm or eliminate possible suspects in this case.
Students will be briefed about the crime scene by the Fremont Police Department in the morning and then deployed to their crime scene. After collecting all evidence, students will analyze their findings and will prepare their accounts of what took place. ECT’s will also observe “persons of interest” found at the crime scene to determine if there is any physical evidence from the crime that might warrant additional attention. After a lunch hosted by The Fremont Rotary Club, teams will prepare their presentations for the Judges Panel where two members of each ECT Team will then present their findings.
Judges for this event will include numerous Forensic Professionals of varying specialties and representatives from the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, San Jose, Fremont and Union City Police Departments.
