Prior to the start of the 2009-2010 school year, MVROP sadly learned Thomas “TJ” Marovich had died in the line of duty. He was a former two-time MVROP Student of the Year, an outstanding community volunteer with the Fremont Explorers, and a member of the US Forestry Service. TJ constantly returned to MVROP to help train students and serve as a mentor to the MVROP Fire Science students who followed the in the years after he graduated. MVROP felt it very appropriate to commemorate TJ’s passion for public service and to help his legacy continue and inspire the future students of MVROP by having a permanent reminder of what is possible when hard work, dedication, and passion are truly exercised. Mission Valley ROP and the Marovich Family were joined at the dedication ceremony by friends, firefighters from Alameda County Fire Department, Fremont Fire Department and US Forest Service, Board Members and representatives from Fremont, Newark, and New Haven Unified School Districts, and those who were involved in the construction of the building. A reception was held following the ceremony complete with food and refreshments prepared and served by the MVROP Culinary Arts instructors and students. About Mission Valley ROP Mission Valley ROP (MVROP) is the regional occupational program for the tri-city area. Established in 1969, MVROP has been instrumental in preparing students for successful business, medical, and technical careers. Through a partnership with Fremont, New Haven, and Newark Unified School Districts, career technical education is provided to 5,000 students (high school and adult) each year. Our 45,000 sq. ft.
