Student Recruitment
Recruitment is important. Through appointments with individuals, large group orientations, speaking to community service organizations, career fairs, etc.; we highlight our program offerings and our numerous successes.
General information sessions, Medical Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant, take place several times a year. [click here for info & schedule]
Direct Support Professional testing and 35-hour training classes are part of the recruitment strategies attended to by the staff in Student Services. [click here for testing & training schedule]
INFORMATION:
- CNA/HHA (Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide)
This combined course of CNA and HHA is offered once per school year for a duration of three quarters. The prerequisite for this course is 7.5 grade level attainment or higher in Basic Skills assessment for reading, math, and spelling. (Check testing schedule for time and date.) Enrolled students must maintain "B" or better grade in theory class to be eligible for clinical. For more information call 510-657-6124 extension 15119. Note: MVROP CNA graduates will have priority to enroll in the Acute Care course offered fourth quarter, but all CNAs may apply to enroll.
- Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
A basic reading and mathematics assessment is required for the Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) course.
- Medical Assisting (Administrative and Clinical)
- Medical Terminology
A basic reading assessment is required for entrance into the Medical Terminology class and may be taken directly after the informational workshop.
- EKG and Pharmacy
EKG and Pharmacy Technician are also required to test for reading, math and spelling.
