Superintendent's Message

Greetings MVROP Community,
As we enter the final stretch of the 2025-2026 school year, with just a few weeks remaining, there is a palpable sense of energy and accomplishment across our campuses. We are currently in the midst of our busiest season, with hundreds of students engaged in terminal placements within local business offices, clinics, and worksites. These "learning-while-doing" opportunities remain the cornerstone of our Mission Statement, providing the rigorous, real-world testing ground that defines high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE).
I am especially thrilled to announce our upcoming Student of the Year celebration, which will be held on May 7th at the Silicon Valley Marriott in Fremont. This annual event is a highlight for our three-district partnership, allowing us to pause and recognize the remarkable achievements of students from Newark, New Haven, and Fremont Unified School Districts. These honorees represent the very best of MVROP, demonstrating the technical skill and professional dedication required to thrive in today’s demanding workforce.
To ensure our students remain at the cutting edge of industry demands, Mission Valley ROP continues to invest in the professional development of our talented and dedicated teachers. This year, our staff has been undergoing comprehensive training on Generative AI tools. We are exploring these technologies both as powerful teaching resources and as potential tools for student learners. By integrating these modern advancements into our curriculum, we are fulfilling our responsibility to provide training that reflects the evolving professional landscape.
Our stability and growth continue to be supported by the state’s Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG) and the K-12 Strong Workforce (K12 SWP) programs. These matching-dollar investments allow us to maintain "industry standard" facilities—from our advanced manufacturing metal joinery shop to our high-resolution electronic video tables for health sciences.
Whether a student is pursuing an A-G college-bound track or entering the workforce directly, our programming is designed to ensure that a rewarding, high-wage job is a tangible part of their future. We prepare students for the world they are about to enter full-time, saving them time and tuition through our numerous community college course articulations.
As we look toward the finish line of another successful year, I want to thank our local business partners, our staff, and especially our students for their commitment to lifelong learning.
We invite you to explore the many opportunities available at Mission Valley ROP by exploring the other sections of this website, or call us at (510) 657-1865 for more information.
Here’s to another year of growth, innovation, and success together!
Sincerely,
Thomas Hanson
Superintendent, MVROP
