During the fall, Mr. Cruz traveled to Guatemala on behalf of Alliance for Smiles in order to capture life changing moments families have to go through with their journey to repair cleft lip and palate anomalies, for their children. DVA 2 students worked on editing short stories about the important work for Alliance for Smiles in Guatemala.

The 16th Annual Car Show was held at Washington High School on May 4th. Mr. Nahale continued his legacy in wowing all in attendance with an amazing event complete with raffles, live music, canned food drive, and of course all of the decked out vehicles.

Computer Animation students completed the first unit on 2D animation using Adobe Animate to learn the principles of animation and have now progressed to 3D Animation. Students are currently learning 3DS Max for 3D Modeling and keyframe animation.

Just before Thanksgiving, thoughts of gratitude led to thoughts of giving back which stems from the culture at James Logan High School so the class decided to fund-raise for the needy. Students wanted to learn how to make the following items from scratch - pie pastry, apple filling, pumpkin custard filling, pumpkin bread, pumpkin donuts, and scones so that is what they baked up.

Nursing Students from both the morning and afternoon classes had the opportunity to learn and practice hands-on skills on how to feed patients properly. Students brought various food items such as jello, yogurt, and mac and cheese. The students learned many proper techniques to "feeding patients" and also had a great time practicing on each other.

Law Enforcement Advisory Newsletter_Winter 2018
Law Enforcement students have successfully completed the introductory course in the Martial Arts Kajukenbo discipline. The class had the privilege of having Advisor and Director TKO Professor, Marco Diaz Jr. instruct the students. Professor Diaz wowed the students with his demonstrated lessons and was recently awarded the title of Grand Master in the Art. Thank you Professor Diaz for investing in our Law Enforcement students and exposing them to the art of Kajukenbo.

Biomedical Sciences Advisory Newsletter_Fall 2017
First year Principles of Biomedical Science/Human Body Systems students performed a diabetes diagnosing lab. Through this lab they learned how to screen for high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) and to detect and diagnose diabetes and prediabetes. The students were engaged and shared how the lab assignment gave them a lot of insight about diabetes and the effect it has on the human body.

Fire Tech students have been involved with some rigorous training visiting the Fremont Fire Training Tower twice a month and engaging in obstacle courses and search and rescue drills. Mission Valley ROP took 23 students to the Alameda Coroner's Bureau in Oakland on November 15th.
